3 weeks to “Tri”

So, my pal Marcy has me convinced that I can complete one of my lifelong goals and check it off my list--to complete a triathlon.  While it was never a question in my mind that I could do it, I had always pictured a rigorous training schedule of 8 to 12 weeks and some trainer named Sgt. (insert incredibly fit, loud, whistle-carrying male name here) pushing me to do my personal best.  That’s when I find out the race is in 3 ½ weeks.

Granted, it’s not like I am sitting around glued to the soaps and consuming copious amounts of bon-bons all day, but I am not in what I would call peak performance shape either.  Add to that a 10-month old spark plug with endless amounts of energy and having to create ways to train with him in tow and you can see my obvious dilemma.

Nevertheless, training “schedule” or not, I have committed myself and there is no backing out now.  (That is, of course, unless I happen to sprain my ankle or something…hmmm ;)  I figure, at this point, as long as I am getting some training in and go into the race with the idea that completion is an honorable accomplishment, I have nothing to lose (albeit, I could very well lose the race, but that’s not really the point).  So, it is with humility, apprehension, and excitement that I am going to “tri”.  And with that, I am off to the pool!

Love and Gratitude~
